Isaias Will Be Knocking
Well, the last day of July is upon us and so is the threat of the nearby hurricane Isaias. While it's not as threatening as the previous few I've experienced here in sunny F-L-A, it's still not something to take lightly.
I'm on the eastern coast. Only 4 miles between me and the lovely ocean. That means we'll feel it more than those inland this time around. So, all outdoor items that are not stationary need to be moved indoors. Plenty of candles, matches, flashlights, food and bottled water on hand should the power go out.
There's always the internet to keep me updated with notifications and warnings from the local weather apps. One of the things I love about my phone is that I can watch a movie on it if it gets too boring. Or read a book. Technology is wonderful. I can always charge it in my car if I have to. Plus, if the power goes out and the A/C along with it, I can always sit in my car with it running to keep cool. I wouldn't be thinking of doing that however, if it was a major one on the way.
I moved recently and am very happy that I am no longer living in a tin can. The last hurricane that came through had a mandatory evacuation order for where I was at. Not a great feeling to know if you'll be coming back to an upright property or a war zone. After Matthew and Irma ripped through here, if I never see the likes of that again, I'd be grateful. The chances are slim though. It's summer. It's Florida.
Be safe out there peeps! I'll keep you updated.
Love,
BB
Make sure you stay safe BB. I don't suppose you ever really get used to the worry that those warnings must bring!
ReplyDeleteYou really don’t as Mother Nature can change her mind with the snap of her fingers!
DeleteStay safe, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThat's the plan. The only thing I forgot to buy was a rubber raft for when the rain starts to flood. Lol

We got soooo lucky with this one. It moved away from the coast and literally we had some wind and a few quick showers. Woohoo!
