I Hate Roller Coasters!!

As a kid, I never liked roller coasters. Or any rides that moved fast and made your stomach flip. I get motion sick super easy and am much happier on the ground watching others scream at the top of their lungs.

So far, 2020 has been one heck of a roller coaster ride. I got sick the first two weeks of March. Was it COVID-19? I don't know but it's quite possible. Thankfully, after those two weeks of a horrible sore throat, low grade fever and zero energy, it passed on.

Aside from sickness, it's also been a roller coaster in other ways. I had to move from where I was living for the last two years. Sharing space with others is not an easy feat. I was a very considerate roommate but it was not reciprocated. I was literally ready to pull my hair out. If it weren't for my best friends D and J keeping me sane, I don't know what I would have done.

Incessant vacuuming, slamming and banging of cupboards and drawers at 6 a.m. Leaving dirty dishes in the sink and on the stove. Clutter all around.  That's what I was dealing with. The real kicker and the straw that broke the camels back was being accused of stealing. Especially when we were good friends for eight years. That's the one thing I will not tolerate. I've never been a thief and I have good morals and values. I hate arguing and it's not my style. So I took the higher ground and moved out.

The rents in Florida have skyrocketed and I am unable to afford a place on my own right now as I live on Social Security. I have a plan but it will take a couple more years financially to get to where I want to be. Fortunately, a male friend has rented out a room to me and it's a breath of fresh air not having to deal with the constant stresses from previous.  Is it perfect? Of course not. But, we have a mutual understanding and we both work at keeping the peace. I have a nice room of my own where I can retreat to anytime. TV, music, and especially laughter is so very appreciated right now.

While 2020 isn't over yet, I have had to stop the roller coaster and get off onto solid ground. My head was spinning too fast.

Do any of you feel like you're on a roller coaster ride? Tell me about it. I'd love to hear from you.

  1. Hi, love....I am so glad you are writing again. It has been a hell of a year, huh? I am glad you are back on solid ground. I feel like 2020 has been a rollercoaster, in the dark and you never know if you are going forward, backwards or upside down. I am, for sure, ready to get off this ride....

    1. Hi Nic! So good to her from you. I like your description of 2020..lol. I've definitely had enough. Pretty soon the weather will break and I'll be able to hit the beach again. Thanks for visiting me! Be well my friend.

  2. I am so glad you got a chance to move out and find a more quieter place.

I feel out of control on a rollercoaster. I hate heights too.

It's a good way to describe how all our lives are at the moment. Everything seems out of control and most of our lives have changed.

I think it's good to have plans. Even if they don't seem reachable at the moment. It gives you a focus.

I know writing helped me over the past few months during shielding and l hope you find the same enjoyment and excitement l got from thinking up ideas of what l could write about.

    1. Thank you Nikki. I'm much more content now. Our lives have been brought to a standstill and now we are trying to get off the ride yet remain safe. Not an easy task. I've enjoyed your writings on FB more than you know. <3

  3. I am glad to hear that and thank you.

  4. I think this year has been less of a roller coaster and more like an unending boxing match...

  5. I'm so glad that you are now happier in your new place. That last place must have been awful for you to have to cope with. I don't suppose any of us ever imagined how we would have to live in the year 2020. I feel that I'm just existing at the moment, along with thousands of others. But keeping safe must be our main priority right now.

    1. It still boggles my mind that people want to go out without masks on. Safety is number one my awesome friend <3
